Resolution to Chinese Relief Discussions
Letter from a City Clerk to the City Commissioner outlining a resolution to the discussions the city had been having in regards to Chinese relief operations on November 17, 1939. The letter is mostly a formality stating that the city approves the position of the City Commissioner and that Saskatoon would move forward with the relief options tabled earlier in the month. This letter is located at the City Archives of Saskatoon and any further use or dissemination of this letter must receive approval from the City Archives prior to use.
Responsibility for AIDS Article 1996
This article states that the majority of people suffering from AIDS are homosexual men, and the gay community should take the responsibility onto itself because they are relying too much on government services. A transcription of the article is included.
Responsible Conduct Group 1987
The first article on this page states that a new group has been formed in Saskatoon that is aiming to increase "responsible conduct", with a focus on prostitution and the LGBTQ community. The second article states that for every case of AIDS that is known, there are more that are unknown. It stresses how rampant the disease is getting. Transcriptions of both articles are included.

Shanghai Chop Suey House 125 19th Street East
Photo of the Shanghai Chop Suey House taken between 1915 and 1920 which was one of the many Chinese restaurants operating in Saskatoon at the time. For Chinese individuals, it was either the restaurant or the laundry business if they were to work in Canada due to racist policies and misinformed public opinions. A film crew on a horse drawn carriage is on the street in front of the restaurant. The photo ID# is LH-4162.
