Photo of the Shanghai Chop Suey House taken between 1915 and 1920 which was one of the many Chinese restaurants operating in Saskatoon at the time. For Chinese individuals, it was either the restaurant or the laundry business if they were to work in Canada due to racist policies and misinformed public opinions. A film crew on a horse drawn carriage is on the street in front of the restaurant. The photo ID# is LH-4162. The photo is housed at the Saskatoon Public Library Local History Room and any further use or dissemination of this photo must receive permission from the Public Library. |
