Abstract |
A short documentary which focuses on the 199 North American Indigenous Games held in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The NAIG Games are portrayed as a means to promote cultural unity, pride and athleticism within Indigenous communities. The second instalment of the Games is described as having an ability to empower Indigenous youth through organized sport. This feature includes interviews with prominent figures at the 1993 Games such as Olympic gold medalists Alwyn Morris and Billy Mills; as well as several coaches, competitors, parents, and organizers like the 1993 Chairperson, Eugene Arcand. The NAIG features thousands of talented athletes and volunteers who are keeping the spirit of their ancestors alive through sport. |
