Black-figure panathenaic amphora. Athena is depicted on the obverse with an inscription written vertically by a column, reading 'ATHENETHEN ATHLON' meaning 'from the games Athens' and 'THEIOPHRASTOS ARCHE'. On the reverse is a four horse chariot, a charioteer, and a nude male athlete wearing a helmet and holding a shield. |
