This is a letter sent from C. Powell, Manager of the Temperance Colonization Society to Jas. A. Smart, Minister of the Interior regarding the quarter sections of land that are under "speculative scrip" for Metis claims to land. I looked at a quarter section of land purchased by the University of Saskatchewan for their Agriculture Department to try and ascertain Indigenous/Metis place making in and around Saskatoon. This letter was one of the only instances that even mentions Metis scrip, and even then it is a dubious mention at best. This letter is housed in the Saskatchewan Provincial Archives Homestead Files S42-127712(3) file and any further use or dissemination of this document must receive permission from the Provincial Archives.
