Metis Scrip Homestead Files Alfred Henderson
This receipt is for the sale of land to Alfred Henderson on May 17, 1889 for $160 total for the quarter NE 26-36-5-W3 which would be eventually defaulted upon by Mr. Henderson and end up in the hands of the University of Saskatchewan Agriculture Department in which it still resides today. This was looked at to ascertain if there were any mentions of Metis scrip or other Indigenous/Metis land claims or recognition of Indigenous/Metis lands in the area at the time. This document is located at the Saskatchewan Provincial Archives Homestead File #S42-127712(3). Any further use or dissemination of this document must be approved by the Provincial Archives.

This is a letter sent from C. Powell, Manager of the Temperance Colonization Society to Jas. A. This letter was one of the only instances that even mentions Metis scrip, and even then it is a dubious mention at best. This letter is housed in the Saskatchewan Provincial Archives Homestead Files S42-127712(3) file and any further use or dissemination of this document must receive permission from the Provincial Archives.
