Letter from the City of Saskatoon Treasurer concerning the insurance on a building at 336 Avenue E South which was occupied by a Chinese laundry business. This letter is an example of what civic policy towards businesses in the 1920's would have looked like. Chinese National League Building
This is a photo of the facade of the Chinese Nationalist Building in Saskatoon which was located at 129 19th Street East from 1917-1931. This was the main building for any Chinese Nationalist endeavours during Saskatoon's Chinatown heyday. The photo ID# is LH-4166. The photo is housed at the Saskatoon Public Library Local History Room and any further use or dissemination of this photo must receive permission from the Public Library.

The letter outlines the information received by the city from a Mr. Bing, which the city does not view to be correct. The letter also mentions the Masonic building which was being used to house Chinese individuals in the city. Letter from S. Bing, Secretary of the Chinese Citizens League to City Clerk Mr. Tomlinson on September 28, 1937 requesting his presence at a meeting regarding Chinese food relief in Saskatoon. Mr. Bing asks to be the representative of the Chinese community at this meeting. Chinese War Relief Fund Documents
A letter and receipt from the Chinese War Relief Fund for a donation of ten dollars the City of Saskatoon gifted the organization on August 21, 1943. These documents show a changing of relations between Canada and their Chinese citizens in some regards as they were both fighting on the same side of the war.
