"No! Not even Old Dutch Cleanser can brighten me up after all the ugly, besmirching facts the Scientists and Doctors tell about me. They say: "Tea and coffee are poisonous drugs." "Coffee is particularly bad for children." "Coffee depresses the kidney function." "The caffeine of coffee is a nerve poison." "They (tea and coffee) are habit-forming drugs." "Coffee is useless and unncessary to humanity. It has made thousands of dyspeptics and wrecked the nerves of hundreds of thousands." Tea and Coffee drinking is such an ancient and respectable habit that many do not suspect it as the cause of their troubles. Try leaving off both tea and coffee ten days and use POSTUM (Made in Canada) the famous food-drink--free from caffeine or any other drug. "There's a Reason" Names of Doctors given upon request by Canadian Postum Cereal Co., Ltd., Windsor, Ont. |
Abstract |
This is a full-size colour ad for POSTUM, which markets itself as a caffeine-free alternative to coffee and tea, thus allowing freedom from all the negative side effects of caffeine that the ads posit. There is an illustration depicting a kettle, and like all other Postum ads, it is unique. This is the first one I have seen which states it is made in Canada. |
